Figs (known as Anjeer) are tasty as well as nutritious.
Common fig is edible and is rich in calcium and fiber. The fruit is nutritious and has many health benefits. It can also be eaten in dried form which is available throughout the year.
In Ayurveda, figs are said to promote health, vitality and strength. It contains soluble fibre that help in clearing out the accumulating cholesterol in the body. Dried figs are useful in preventing coronary heart diseases. As it is a good source of calcium it is good for strengthening of the bones. Figs contain iron too and thus are useful in treating anaemia. Figs are used for weight loss and for boosting fertility. They can relieve fatigue and boost brain power too.
Figs can be eaten as standalone or added to breakfast. Soaking two figs in water overnight and eating them in the morning helps in good digestion. Figs are used for preparation of sweets and in desserts.
