Root of the ginger plant, called as ginger, is commonly used for cooking purpose and is widely used in Ayurveda for its medicinal use. It increases heat in the body and is considered efficient when used for ailments due to cold.
Ginger mainly helps to enhance digestion. Eating fresh ginger with little salt and lime juice before meals helps in increasing digestion power helping in proper absorption of the nutrients by the body. Ginger can be used for joint pain or airsickness. Ginger tea can be prepared by boiling few slices of ginger in water. It is considered to be an immediate remedy for cold. Ginger with honey helps to improve the immune system. Ginger can be dried and preserved. Dried ginger can be powdered and used for medicinal purposes.
As ginger grows underground, it must be thoroughly washed before using it.
